Poland is a low lying country with the entrance to the Baltic sea, placed in the central Europe. During centuries it was being conquered by other nations. It was the first country on which Hitler executed the invasion initiating the II World War, and it was in the zone of the influences of former Soviet Union from 1945. Poland is also the country that broke the „iron curtain” in 1989. In this year, after the wave of strikes led by "Solidarity", the trade union that also reformed in the social movement, the first uncomunistic government was created. During next years, there was conducted the economic reform and the free-market economy began to develop. Furthermore, Poland has been the member of European Union since 1 May, 2004.
Poland is the country which is visited with pleasure by tourists because of its rich cultural-historical past and a geographical diversification.
